Philosophy + Values
I believe in collaboration to discover your goals and help you live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling. I work from an integrated approach of substance use and mental health concerns, and provide treatment and support for both areas. I believe that recovery is a process, and support for your recovery can come from different places and people. I acknowledge the context of your life, including your challenges, strengths, and resilience.
I'll encourage movement towards values-based change in myself and others, and trust in the power people have to change their lives through meaningful action. I can help you clarify and act on values in areas of your professional and personal life including: career stress and achievement, balancing professional and personal identity, managing difficult emotions, building connection in relationships, and exploring areas in life that bring you joy.
Therapy begins with connection to yourself and the world around you. The foundation of our work together rests on open, honest, and direct communication about our relationships, emotions, and how we experience the world and each other. Insight and self-knowledge gained in therapy can have a ripple affect across our relationships and our world. I am committed to interpersonal awareness both personally and professionally, and believe in the growth that can come from learning how we impact others.
I value inclusion and respect for diversity. I respect differences in race, culture, background, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity. I have seen insight, strength, and growth come from unique perspectives, world views, and identities. I am inclusive in my thinking and actions and open to new ideas, ways of being, and approaches to living.
